While cruise holidays bring to mind baby boomers playing shuffleboard on the Lido Deck, cruising is actually perfect for families with children as well. Here's why.
You see a lot and sleep in the same bed
Going on a cruise holiday is a great way of touring and seeing many sights without the hassle of packing up and staying at different hotels every night. You can visit a lot of different sights and even different countries. There
are also lots of family friendly shore excursions available like kid friendly sightseeing tours, beach days, boat tours and animal watching, etc.
Lots of activities for all ages
Boredom doesn’t exist on a cruise ship as there are too many activities on offer, for kids as well as adults. Besides the standard pool area entertainment, bingo and movie nights, many cruise lines offer things like climbing walls, ice skating rinks, surf pools,
skydiving simulators, and even ziplines. Additionally, many of these cruise ship will have kids’ clubs on board with play areas and lots of activities ranging from treasure hunts, science experiments, sports tournaments, etc. Some even have nurseries
or soft-play areas for babies and toddlers.
It’s pretty safe for kids
Granted that a cruise ship is like a floating village with a lot of people on board, but there’s no traffic, they can’t get lost, and there’s lots of staff around that can help them if need be.
Lots of food choices for picky kids
There are usually lots of food options for kids. For fidgety kids that can’t sit though an entire formal dinner, there are the casual restaurants which offer a wide array of food choices. Some parents bring their kids for dinner to one of these casual
options and then drop them at the kids club and head to the formal dinner themselves.
While a holiday for a family of say four people can get quite pricey, there are some cruise lines that offer discounts for kids or even free passage on selected cruise lines. So, shop around if you want to find a good deal.
